John Evans Manufacturing Co. (John Evans) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Flatbed trailers. The air brake diaphragm on these vehicles may degrade and allow the brake system air to leak from the quick release valve causing the emergency brakes to engage.
RiskPartial or full application of the emergency brakes can cause the wheel-end to overheat or a drag slowing or stopping the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FixJohn Evans will notify owners, and service centers will install heavy duty diaphragms in the quick release valves, free of charge. The recall began on November 20, 2017. Owners may contact John Evans customer service at 1-704-436-2590.
