2017 Arcimoto FUV

Arcimoto Inc (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2017 FUV motorcycles. The affected motorcycles were built with a front/rear split brake system instead of a left/right split brake system. In the event of a front brake system failure, the rear brake system may not allow the vehicle to meet the minimum stopping distance requirements. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 122, "Motorcycle brake systems."

RiskIf the brakes cannot stop the motorcycle within the distance required, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Arcimoto Inc. (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2017-2018 FUV motorcycles. The headlights on the motorcycles may be spaced too far apart to appear as a motorcycle to oncoming traffic. As a result, the motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Lamps, reflective devices, and associated Equipment."

RiskDue to the improperly positioned headlamps, the vehicle may not be recognizable as a motorcycle in the dark, increasing the risk of crash.

FixArcimoto has notified all affected owners and the motorcycles are within the manufacturer's control. Arcimoto will replace the headlights with supplemental amber marker lights and add fully compliant headlights to the center of the vehicle, mounted to the frame, free of charge. As such these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, reflective devices, and Associated Equipment."
