What was wrong
Defect
THE INVOLVED TIRES FAILED TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 109, "NEW PNEUMATIC TIRES". THIS FAILURE IS BELIEVED TO BE DUE TO EXCESSIVE MOISTURE CONTENT IN THE FABRIC BEAD WRAP WHICH CAUSES SEPARATION BETWEEN THE FABRIC WRAP AND THE COAT STOCK DUE TO HIGH SPEED FLEXING.
