What was wrong

Defect

Oshkosh Corporation (Oshkosh) is recalling certain Shepphard Steering Gears, with part number 3875726, sold as replacement parts for certain S-Series vehicles. The steering gears may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the gear to fracture.

Risk

A fractured steering gear shaft can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Oshkosh will work with the supplier, R.H. Sheppard, to inspect and replace the steering gears as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 1, 2024. Owners may contact Oshkosh's customer service at 1-888-686-7278.
