What was wrong

Defect

Emerson Process Management Regulator Technologies, Inc. (Emerson) is recalling certain Fisher-branded H732 and H832 pressure relief valves, manufactured January 2003, through January 2013, used in cargo tank trailers. The stem of the valve may break, resulting in separation. This may result in the valve being ejected and pressurized gas being released into the atmosphere.

Risk

The ejected valve could strike another vehicle and cause personal injury or a vehicle crash. The release of gas near an ignition source could also lead to a vehicle fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Emerson will notify owners and replace the valves free of charge. The recall began on April 9, 2013. Customers may contact Emerson at 1-888-237-1751.
