What was wrong

Defect

PACCAR is recalling certain TRP branded aluminum wheels sold for resale in the aftermarket with one of the following part numbers AW2258B, AW2258M, AW2458B, or AW2458M. The rim markings on these wheels were etched to a depth less than the minimum requirements. Thus, these wheels fail to conform to the rim marking requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars."

Risk

Without proper rim markings, owners may not be able to identify affected wheels in the event of a wheel recall. Defective or noncompliant wheels that are not remedied are at an increased risk of performance failure, and thereby increase the risk of a crash or other safety hazard to motorists.

Manufacturer remedy

PACCAR will notify owners and replace the rims free of charge. The safety recall began on February 8, 2013. Owners may contact PACCAR at 1-425-468-7400.
